Lisbon Portugal Intercontinental Hotel

At the end of January, we decided to add a short holiday and work trip to Europe to this end. Our road trip in Portugal included a stay in Lisbon and a visit to the city centre and the historic town of Belem.

One day we also organized a tour of the other rooms of the hotel and we will see when the renovation will be completed in early 2019. Our bedroom was next to another, which brought the already very comfortable suite into the 21st century and created a much lighter and brighter feel.

We hope to be able to return to the hotel after the renovation is complete to see how this great hotel can continue to improve. In the meantime, the Park Atlantic Hotel Porto is also being renovated and we hope to visit this hotel when it is ready in the next few months to see how they have improved it.

All contributions to Booking.com are treated with the utmost respect and reflect the commitment of our guests to the hotel. We believe that reviews, posts and reactions to properties will show that there is a wide range of opinions and experiences to help guests make a well-informed decision about where to stay.

All in all, I would say that Intercontinental Lisbon is not a bad place to stay and I would certainly stay here again. If you want to know more about what to do in Lisbon and what to look out for next time you visit, check out our Route 7-10 Portugal (visit Belem and read our planning tips) for more information. I urge all my friends who are going to Lisbon to stay here when they go on their next trip to Portugal or any other part of the world.

Upon arrival at the hotel, order the Club Sandwich that will be delivered to your room and take a moment before room service delivers it to you to learn how it is prepared and what materials were used in its manufacture, and then taste the sandwich. If you plan to book another hotel or a premium flight, please contact our concierge for more information.

The ceviche had an Asian touch, with spicy carrots giving it a spicy edge that complements the creamy avocado. For the main course we had a dish in which thick slices of cod were baked, and at the end of the night we had a small plate of creme brulee, which also cooked perfectly.

The Deluxe Park View Room is 34 sq. ft., and has a king size bed in the middle. I was sure the room had a king, but was disappointed when we found out it had only one queen.

The bed with two bedside tables is the heart of the hotel and looks like the bed you would expect in a luxury hotel. Opposite are two loungers of some kind, which is an interesting idea and looks a bit like the spa.

The main foyer has lounges with seating where guests can enjoy small food stalls (OH MY!) And OHMY! The concierge desk, located on the left, is the check-in desk. The Club Lounge is located next to the lobby and serves breakfast in private, but in the afternoon you can enjoy a hor d'oeuvre. All in all, I would say that breakfast at the InterContinental Lisbon is quite nice and I expect it to be on the same level as the hotel restaurant.

Otherwise I could not fault myself for my stay, but it is a pity that there is no kettle to make tea or boil water for the water.

I would say that the positive aspects of the hotel are that it is located at the distinctive Marques de Pombal roundabout, where many buses go to this part of the city. Everything is in good condition and if there is a need for further facilities, there is a full fitness and wellness area located directly opposite Eduardo VII Park. The hotel is just a few meters from another landmark, the roundabouts of the Marque de Pombals, from where the main entrance to the city is and also the first stop of the many buses to these parts of the city, but the gym was never crowded when I visited. I strolled through the park and admired the sweeping views of the city and the manicured gardens.

The view is beautiful, the overall beautiful interior design of the restaurant is excellent and the view contradicts the hotel itself.

The InterContinental is suitable for both luxury and business travelers. The ballroom has a serious wow factor and you can meet up with friends and family in the hotel lobby or in one of the many private suites. There is a 24-hour business center and the Intercontinental is well suited for luxury or business travelers as well as business people.
